Allow me to begin by introducing myself. I am Father William Cosgrove, Pastor of Saint Augustine's Parish and School in New City, New York. Thank you for taking the time to explore our school on our website. Saint Augustine School, in the heart of Rockland County, is a faith based center of learning ranging from Pre-k through 8th grade. Our educational mission is to transmit Catholic Christian values, ethics and beliefs within a nurturing atmosphere of academic excellence and to provide the climate necessary for our students to make their own personal commitment to Christ. With dedicated lay teachers and the involvement of the parish clergy, we work daily to infuse Christian values into the school's academic curriculum.

This academic year of 2010-2011 marks a significant moment in the life of Saint Augustine's School. This year we will celebrate our 50th Anniversary of educating the young people of Rockland County. Founded by the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill we continue their mission of handing on to future generations a holistic education of academic subjects enfolded in the spiritual mission of the Church to proclaim the Gospel. We hold that Christ Jesus is the teacher of every lesson, the listener to every lesson and the reason for the lesson. Our students excel in all facets of learning while growing into the people that they are created to be.

In the Fall of 2009, Saint Augustine School was nominated for the US Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Schools Program. The Blue Ribbon Schools Program "honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools that are either academically superior or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement to high levels." Academic superiority is measured by scores in the top 10% on state assessments. This nomination recognizes the hard work and achievement of our students and faculty which is not possible without the support of our families, parish and the surrounding community.
